Easter Weekend

I have to say hands down, Easter of 2013 has been my favorite.  We had a busy weekend full of dying Easter eggs, baking, eating, and being spiritually fed.

Friday night Tyson and I ordered pizza and invited our good friends Shaun and Brooke over.  We dyed Easter eggs and made Apple Crisp, per Shaun request.

I've said it a thousand times and I will probably say it a thousand more, but Holidays are so much more fun with a baby.  Even though she had no idea what we were doing, it made everything more exciting for us.

I was nervous to hard boil all of the eggs.  It sounds funny, but it's true.  I had to keep calling and checking with my mom to make sure I was doing everything correct.  They actually turned out perfect. I bought three different dye kits.  I had no idea what I purchasing.  We had fun making our own color concoctions.  The pink glitter was the favorite.

Tyson and his dad worked all day on Saturday to make our yard beautiful.  They literally worked from sun up to sun down.  His mom came by and brought us Dog House.  They have the best chicken salads and tri-tip sandwiches.  I stayed up all night making my first bunny cake and seven dozen sugar cookies.  Our house turned into a bakery overnight.

Grandma and Grandpa Parker also brought over our Easter bags.  They spoiled us as always.  Penelope got the most darling stuffed lamb, a new outfit, and pajamas.  We got See's chocolates, malted eggs, Peep's, jelly beans, and gift cards.

Sunday was filled with all sorts of family and fun.  I had so much fun filling Penelope's Easter basket.  The Easter basket was mine when I was younger and wanted to pass it down.  My mom also made the adorable doll.  She is seriously beyond talented.  I wish I got her crafty side.  I also got Penelope one of my favorite books, some outfits, teething toys, and a new swimsuit, cover up, and hat for the beach.

I got Tyson a new tie and some more candy.  He got me a massage and is letting me pick out some new makeup brushes.  He didn't dare do it himself.

Every Easter morning we go over to Nana and Grandpa Parker's for Sunday brunch.  We had the yummiest Irish loaf bread, waffles, fruit, bacon, and hash browns.

I brought the sugar cookies.  I had so much fun decorating them.

Nana and Grandpa Parker have the most gorgeous flowers surrounding their house.  I loved all of the vibrant colors.

Nana has the most beautiful vintage furniture adorning her house.  My favorite is the couch of her mothers.

They kids had an Easter egg hunt.  I had fun stuffing all of the eggs.  Tyson and I had fun reminiscing about our childhood egg hunts.  We talked about ideas for our future egg hunts with our little family.

These bunnies are too cute!

After brunch we headed to hear Tyson speak in sacrament meeting.  He did such an amazing job speaking about the Atonement.  I sat and looked at him and thought how lucky I was to have him as my husband and how lucky P is to have him as her dad.

The rest of church was great.  The kids were hyped up on sugar, during Primary.  I don't know if we made things any better by passing them out sugar cookies.

After church we headed to Tyson's uncle John's house.  We ate the most scrumptious dinner of tri-tip, ham, funeral potatoes, salad, fruit, carrots, and rolls.

Penelope enjoyed being passed around to all the little cousins.  It was so cute to see them fight over her.  It reminded me of when I was younger.  Whatever baby was in the room, I had to have in my arms.

The kids had another Easter egg hunt and we enjoyed our bags filled chocolates from Grandma Betty.

Everyone enjoyed the bunny cake.  I had so much fun making it and have more ideas for next years bunny.

I love all of the traditions that we got to take part in.

I loved everything about this Easter season.  I really enjoyed focussing on the Atonement.  I am so grateful for my Savior Jesus Christ.  I know because of what he did I will be able to see all of my family again.  His atonement has comforted me in times of need and has helped me better myself.  He has truly removed the sting of death and for that I am eternally grateful.  I know that he died for me and suffered so that he would be able to succor my needs.

I hope everyone had a fantastic Easter as well!
