Hospital Stay

Call my crazy, but I cherish the days that I stay at the hospital with my newborns.  It's the time spent before the real world hits.  Looking at the bright side of having a c-section, it allowed me to stay in the hospital a few extra days.  I ended up staying four nights and honestly could have used more.  Having the help of wonderful nurses, lactation specialists and having family and friends coming to visit is priceless, not to mention the side rails on those hospital beds.  Having breakfast, lunch and dinner brought to me daily was also a highlight.

My beyond sweet sister-in-law Cara came not only once, but twice to blow out and curl my hair for me.  It helped me feel SO much better.  It was something I couldn't do for myself.  I will be forever grateful to her for her service.  I joked with her that I would return the same favor when she has a baby.  Can you imagine?!

My mom was able to stay with me the last two nights, so that Tyson could be home with P.  I will never forget all that she did for me.  She received hardly any sleep and put up with my hormonal self.  She was patient, loving and kind to me.  She would go on the walks with me around the hospital, help me to the bathroom, snuggle my baby, change Lucy's diapers and so much more.  I honestly don't think I could have made it without her by my side.
I was so excited when P was finally going to be able to hold her baby sister for the first time.  This was truly a moment I had waited for.  She smiled and giggled with excitement as we placed her in her chubby little arms. Seeing the love that P already had for her sister about did me in.

^^^ I promise P was happy, just a little upset I took my phone away from her. ^^^

Grandma Betty always brings a box of my favorite See's candies when she comes to visit.  Between my mom and I, we devoured the entire pound of chocolates in a day.

Each day Tyson's parents would bring P to see us.  Hearing her little knock at the door and seeing her little feet shuffle in underneath the curtain was my favorite.  She couldn't wait to come each day.  She helped me want to heal quickly so I could get back to her.  There were a few nights where she wouldn't leave my side on the hospital bed.  We watched Frozen together and ate treats.  Just having her near me, made me feel so complete.  I dreaded saying goodbye each night, but looked forward to her entrance each day.  Knowing that she was in good hands, also helped.

I am also so grateful for the one on one time that the hospital allowed me to have with Lucy.  Skin to skin with my precious little newborn is so sweet to me.

Even though my stay was not easy, I will cherish the memories that were made.
