Night At The Fair

It's that time of year again, where the Fresno State Fair rolls into town.  I hadn't been since I was pregnant with miss P and decided it was time to take the gang.  I couldn't wait to get my hands on some greasy food and most of all to take P to see all the animals.  We are quickly realizing the work that goes into taking two kiddos out and about, but this outing turned out surprisingly well.  Tyson's dad accompanied us and was a tremendous help.  He maned the stroller the entire time, which made it possible for us to really enjoy the fair with P.

I am always amazed at the security that goes into entering the Fresno Fair.  I was definitely reminded that we are "not in Kansas anymore."  I was slightly humiliated when the button on my pants set off the security wand.  The guard made me lift up my my shirt to show him the button.  Little did he know, I can fit into my old pants, but buttoning them up is an entirely different story.  I pointed to Lucy and smiled.  He grinned and let me be on my way.  Talk about awkward!

After making our way through the gates, we were greeted by none other than the greasy food stands.  Navajo Taco's were our first stop.  Unfortunately, they tasted nothing like my grandmothers.  Tyson's dad got one that was coated in cinnamon and sugar.  That one was amazing!
^^^ My corn on the cob was soaked in butter, but was still so tasty!  I swear I had butter dripping from my face and fingers all night long.  I could eat corn on the cob for every meal. ^^^
P of course loved the animal exhibit.  She wanted to pet each and every animal.
^^^ If this isn't the cutest face I ever did see.  I have a soft spot in my heart for sheep.  I raised a few bum lambs back in the day. ^^^
Grandpa surprised P with a bag of delicious cotton candy.  The sugar high is totally worth it every time!
We made our way over to the rides trying our best to find a kid friendly ride for P.  I was so sad, when we discovered they didn't have one.  P wanted so badly to ride the carousel, but didn't pass the height requirement.  Who comes up with these limits?
She still enjoyed the lights and crazy techno music!
Having kids is a great excuse to avoid rides.  I get nauseous just looking at them.  I have had my fair share of Sandlot moments.  I have come to the realization that I am sadly not cut out for them.
All of the walking around left me with sore legs and feet.  Another sign that it is time to start working out again...  We had a lot of fun and can't wait till next year, when P can finally ride the carousel.

  1. Beautiful photos! That stinks that she couldn't ride the carousel. The Georgia fair carrousel had no height limit. I took my 16 month old on it and I realized it that was a little fast and she seemed okay but I'm sure she was freaking out.
